Historical ASX GICS Sectors Performance in July since 2002
Here is a research report highlighting the historical average returns of the all the 12 major S&P ASX GICS Sectors performed in the month of July (GICS stands for Global Industry Classification Standard), along with each group’s average return, median returns. We’ve also included the percentage of time that the group has positive returns as well as the percentage of time that the group has outperformed the S&P/ ASX 200 bench mark index during the month of July. As a result, investors can get a good idea of which areas of the market July has been good.
We do this as a regular feature , and have done similar reports for the month of June, May , April , March, and the month of February.
If the seasonality repeats the same way in this July too ! , as in the past months of July, as shown in the table below
- S&P/ASX 200 Telecomms (ASX Code: XTJ) , S&P/ASX 200 Utilities (ASX Code : XUJ) , might outperform the S&P/ ASX 200 benchmark index ( ASX Code : XJO)
- The average returns for S&P/ASX 200 Telecomms (ASX Code: XTJ) stands at 2.34% in July month , while average returns for S&P/ASX 200 Utilities (ASX Code : XUJ) were 1.85%, as against the average returns of 0.12% for S&P/ ASX 200 index
- S&P/ASX 200 Info Tech (ASX Code: XIJ ) , S&P/ASX 200 A-REIT (ASX Code : XPJ ) , might under-perform the S&P/ ASX 200 benchmark index (ASX Code : XJO)
- The average returns for S&P/ASX 200 Info Tech (ASX Code: XIJ ) stands at -1.55 % in July month , while average returns for S&P/ASX 200 A-REIT (ASX Code : XPJ ) were -0.79%, as against the average returns of 0.12% for S&P/ ASX 200 index
- Both , S&P/ASX 200 Telecomms (ASX Code: XTJ) , S&P/ASX 200 Utilities (ASX Code : XUJ) gained 7 out of 10 times in the July month
- while S&P/ASX 200 Info Tech (ASX Code: XIJ ) lost 7 out of 10 times in the July month.
